Do not hire an inspector based on price! This can be a very costly mistake. You are making a huge investment in a house and need a good inspection, not a cheap one. With the high costs of insurance, gasoline and other costs involved, the home inspection business is expensive. My prices are comparable for this area and if someone quotes you a much cheaper price, you should be suspicious. Not all inspectors are the same and saving fifty or one hunderd dollars on an inspection should not be the deciding factor on something as important as a home purchase. As we all know, you get what you pay for. Typical inspections I perform run between $250.00 and $350.00. Many areas of the country pay up to twice this amount for an inspection, so we live in an area that is among the lowest in the country. The average cost of a home inspection in the USA is $380.00.
